2019 State-Fish Art Contest Winners
1997年3月, 来自明尼苏达州的五年级的凯特·迪利奥和她父亲萨尔在研究一个有关明尼苏达州州鱼的项目时,发现了美国各个州的各种鱼类信息。于是,他们灵机一动,决定举办一个活动,希望可以让孩子们、教师和家长了解美国各州的鱼类知识并且重视对于水产资源的保护。
The Wildlife Forever STATE-FISH ART Contest was inspired by a bright fifth-grader from Minnesota named Kate Di Leo and her father Sal in March of 1997.While doing a research project on Minnesota’s State-Fish, they discovered that very little information existed on all the different State-Fish in the U.S. They decided an event should be created that educated kids, teachers, and parents on aquatics resources, conservation, and each state’s State-Fish.
君诚学子在此次州鱼比赛中取得了非常优异的成绩,其中Lee Dongyun (Andy), G1,获得了一等奖,Chen Yujia ,G3获得了二等奖,Shi, Ruihan (Stephanie), G1 获得了三等奖。
In this competition, students from SIBS achieved excellent results. Lee Dongyun (Andy) from Grade 1 won the first prize; ChenYujia from Grade 3 got the second prize, and Shi Ruihan from Grade 1 won the third prize.
2、家长研讨会
Workshop for Parents
还有两周时间本学期就要结束了,很高兴地见证了君诚学子的健康成长和取得的优异成绩。很多家长都在考虑如何利用好暑假来为新学期做准备,为此,君诚学校举行了学期末的家长研讨会,邀请家长一起对本学年进行回顾,并探讨如何携手帮孩子们为新学期做准备,共同迎接新的飞跃。我们还向家长们介绍了如何在暑假期间使用BrainPOP来提高学生的英语水平。
There are now only two weeks before the end of this semester. We are glad to see the growth of our students and the achievements they have made. We realized that parents are thinking about how to arrange the summer vacation in order to get well prepared for the next semester,thus, we decided to hold a parent workshop to invite parents to review the progress of SIBS this year and have a discussion about what we can do to help children to be ready for the coming semester. We will also introduce to the parents about how to use Brain POP to improve our students’ English skills during the summer vacation.
3、君诚小学4-5年级中文课程示例
An example for a Grade 4/5 Chinese Curriculum at SIBS
君诚的中文课程旨在培养学生的“社会洞察力、审美和文化素养和有效的交流沟通技能,以支持他们未来的学术研究”,其中“社会洞察力、审美和文化素养”指向的是人文性,“有效的交流沟通技能”指向的是工具性。为了达到这个目标,君诚小学课程的设置会更宽泛一些,也就是说,我们中文课的学习,不把时间花在刷题上。我们的教学重点在于培养学生学习中文的兴趣,提高学生的审美和文化素养(人文性),训练学生自己学习的能力,以及在生活中运用语文知识解决问题的能力(工具性)。
Chinese courses at SIBS are designed to develop students'“ social insight, aesthetic and cultural literacy and effective communication skills to support their future academic research"."Social insight, aesthetic and cultural literacy" refers to humanity and "effective communication skills" means instrumentality.
为了达到这个目标,君诚小学课程的设置会更宽泛一些,也就是说,我们中文课的学习,不把时间花在刷题上。我们的教学重点在于培养学生学习中文的兴趣,提高学生的审美和文化素养(人文性),训练学生自己学习的能力,以及在生活中运用语文知识解决问题的能力(工具性)。
In order to achieve the goal, SIBS ES curriculum will cover a wider range of knowledge. To be more specific, students do not have to spend too much time on doing various exercises when studying Chinese.The point is to develop their interest in learning Chinese, improving students'aesthetic and cultural literacy (humanity), training students' ability to learn on their own, and using language to solve problems in daily lives (instrumentality).
4、君诚幼儿园本周活动
SIBS Kindergarten Week Event
君诚幼儿园本周举办了小朋友的生日会,我们一起制作了瓶子吹气球的实验。将小苏打放入瓶中,在气球里放入柠檬酸,气球竖起放在瓶口处,让柠檬酸落入瓶中,瓶子里面和气球会发生什么变化呢?
SIBS Kindergarten held a child's birthday party this week. We made an experiment of a bottle blowing balloon. The baking soda was put in the bottle, then the citric acid in the balloon. Put the balloon up and the citric acid fell into the bottle. Guess what happened to the bottle and the balloon?
幼儿对水的喜爱是一种天性。因此,“疯狂玩水日”成了君诚幼儿园一年一度的标志性活动。简单而又轻松的玩水活动,拉近了师生之间的感情,增进了同伴之间的友谊,更让孩子感受到了集体氛围的快乐和温暖。
It is their human nature to love playing the water. Therefore, "Crazy Water Day" has become the annual landmark activity for SIBS Kindergarten. A simple and relaxed activity makes the relationship between students and teachers closer and enhances the friendship between peers. The most important is that children could feel warm and happy in the environment.
5、BrainPop 与美式课程教学标准的结合
Assemble the U.S. educational standards via BrainPOP
在上期周报中,我们介绍了从今年夏天起,君诚学校启动使用的课程同步软件BrainPop APP。该APP除了具有丰富的互动教育内容,还在拓展了与美式课程标准的融合,这对于君诚学校开展课内外的标准融合将起到较大的作用。
In our previous weekly report, we introduced the BrainPop APP, a piece of course synchronization software that SIBS has been using since this summer. In addition to the rich interactive educational content, the APP is closely integrated with American curriculum standards. As such, it will help embed these standards both inside and outside the classrooms at SIBS.
在BrainPop Educators(智力泡泡教育者)网站上,老师们可以一键搜索所有内涵在APP里与某个课标相吻合的教育内容。
Teachers will use the BrainPOP Educators section to search for a variety of relevant, subject-specific content. The resources can then be accessed by students and parents at the click of a button.

充分利用这一功能结合我校学生本学年所参加的MAP大数据个性化综合评测结果,老师们可以设计出针对某个薄弱环节的针对性练习和学习内容。
Teachers will combine their personalized, comprehensive assessment of each student with the MAP test data that has been gathered throughout the school year, so as to design targeted exercises and learning content. This will help ensure that the Brainpop activities selected for your child addresses their weak spots and specific areas for improvement.
为什么暑假中同学们须积极通过BrainPop来练习和学习?
You may well ask, "why should students actively practice and study through BrainPop during the summer vacation?".
经验和研究表明,国际学校的学生在暑假中脱离了校内的英语环境,英语学科能力在经历一个暑假后会退步,其退步程度为1-5个月不等。因此在没有干预的情况下,这对于学生们按部就班达到英语母语水平非常不利,对于学生们在高中阶段开始高强度地学习IB和AP课程更为不利。为此,我校推进暑期利用Brainpop等同步软件进行自学和完成暑期作业,并将在2019-20学期的9/10月份检验学生们的暑期学习结果。
Experience and research show that most students in international schools are separated from the English language environment offered by their school during the holiday season. As a result, students' English subject ability will gradually decline over the summer, with a regression degree of between 1-5 months. Without intervention, this is potentially very detrimental to the students' English language proficiency. The negative effect may be particularly felt by students starting to take IB and AP courses in high school. These students will be studying high-intensity courses and will need to "hit the ground running". They will have little time to readjust to English once the holidays finish.
To this end, our school promotes the use of Brainpop and other synchronization software for self-study and summer homework. We will test the students' summer study results in September/October 2019-20.
6、君诚中学部艺术设计项目开班
SIBS Art School Preparatory Program
ASPP艺术设计项目与君诚学校(简称SIBS)中学部学习相同的课程,在此基础上叠加艺术设计专项课程,帮助学生完成作品集,以申请到世界一流大学及学院的艺术设计专业。
The ASPP is based on the same curriculum as MS/HS of SIBS. On this basis, the special art design course is superimposed to help students complete the collection to apply for arts and design major at world-class universities and colleges.
